Books not bunnies

I made plans weeks ago to take Lane to the library across town to visit with some bunnies. The arrival of the park ranger outfit on Monday only created more excitement for today's trip. Visions of bunnies perched in my babe's lap while his signature all-cheek smile grew across his face filled my mind.

Plans don't always turn out as expected.

As we left the house drops of rain began to fall. By the time we made it across town, we were experiencing a full-on storm. I busted a U-ie, called our friends to cancel and headed back to our side of town to pick up some lunch and visit with papa.

On our way back home, the rain subsided a bit so we stopped at the library on our side of town to read some books. With plans to visit with our friends canceled and a few hours until the afternoon nap, I wanted to find something fun for the babe to do.

We climbed the brightly colored couches, explored the giant train located in the childrens' section and read aloud together.

My plan to find an alternative activity must have satisfied our babe. As we left the library, Lane was puckering up, planting kisses on my lips and waving bye-bye, and I heard a librarian behind the front desk say, "Now that is a happy baby."
